Bedroom Closet

Of course we cannot think of a bedroom without its own closet more so of a master bedroom without its own master bedroom closet. Gone are the days that there were wardrobes and suitcase/boxes under the bed. But are you sure that you have the best closet, or better said best bedroom closet? Yes it is easy to waste good bedroom space to complex closets or closet hallways, on the other hand there are many bedrooms with blind corners which would have been better off if they put that corner inside the bedroom closet. The same is true about bedroom closet organizers, these bedroom closet organizers should be well thought of and a good match for its user, otherwise it becomes a pain in the neck that is always in the way.

Bedroom Closet Organizers

We as a company (Euro Design Center) which manufactures and installs bedroom closet Organizers and master bedroom closets as well as wardrobes and home offices in Washington DC Metro area, including Maryland and Virginia (DC, MD, VA) has some advice for you.

Master Bedroom Closet

The ratio for a normal bedroom closet to a bedroom is from 0.35 to 0.6. Of course if it is a European house or if you live in a big city it may be less. The closet should be as square as possible. The idea of getting a closet in the out of square or wasted space is not worth the time that will later be lost using the awkward bedroom closet. Master Bedroom closet should have space to dress and undress, unless you use butlers or maids. It should have good lighting. It is better if master bedroom closets and bathes are interconnected, either directly or through a connecting hall. Do not waste too much space on the connecting hall, because its only purpose is to facilitate use of bedroom closet and bath separately. Hers and his master bedroom closet can be separated rooms or in one room but different sides. Choose rod height according to your height. Do not think much about extra space high in the bedroom closet, it is not a place for storing things because it will always be an eye sour and you cannot use a ladder in your daily routine of changing clothes. Design of closets is continuation of your home style, you can be modern with new colors and glass and you can be traditional with wood and moldings. Check your clothes inventory and choose different types of closets accordingly. If you have a lot of dresses, you need more long hanging. If not add double hanging. If you have a lot of shoes that you use, add short hanging with bottom shelves for shoes. Remember master bedroom closet is not for storage, do not try to put shoes that you do not wear in it, or try to have all your clothes warm and cool together all year long. Put unnecessary closets in some other place and change it two times a year, it will halve your wasted time in the closet.
